EDONOMY® Experiential Program – Taking Local Wisdom to Modern Society

In today’s business world, “sustainability” often feels like a trade-off.
But what if reducing waste and dependency could actually improve your margins — not as a fleeting trend, but as a deeply rooted, time-tested logic?

Introducing EDONOMY®

At COS KYOTO, we introduce Edonomy®:
A leadership framework inspired by values still alive in Japan’s regional industries — and practiced during one of its most prosperous eras, the Edo period (1603–1868).

“EDONOMY®” is the practice of learning from local wisdom that enables people to live richly within the limits of natural cycles — as seen in the Edo period — and applying that insight to shape the future of economy and society.

It is a leadership framework inspired by values still alive in Japan’s regional industries — and observed during Japan’s most prosperous time, Edo period (1603–1868).
Sometimes called as “Circular Edonomy” when we talk about it in the context of circular economy. (See article below)

Edonomy® helps leaders:
→ Shift from growth-by-volume to growth-by-resonance
→ Discover regenerative value in heritage and place
→ Build trust through culture-based narratives

Learning from Edo wisdom to reimagine prosperity for the future.
A journey that connects business, creation, and education through the lens of circularity, collaboration, and cultural wisdom.

It’s not about going back.
It’s about learning forward.
Taking local wisdon to modern society.

EDONOMY® Program

COS KYOTO offers EDONOMY® through executive field programs and co-creation labs based mainly in Kyoto.

The EDONOMY® Program is not a mere training, company visit or study tour.
It’s a carefully designed learning journey where participants visit sites that embody the wisdom of EDONOMY® — from regional industries that thrive on local resources, to communities living in harmony with nature, to temples and workshops experimenting with new forms of value creation.

Each program is curated and facilitated by coordinators experienced in corporate training, project design, and creative education. Through field immersion and dialogue, participants gain practical insights into systems, creativity, and mindset transformation that can be directly applied to management, education, and innovation.

Fully customised to your needs.
Available in Japanese and English.
